She is just getting bigger and bigger.

Christian, the younger brother of Isabella is also growing fast. He seems so far to be a more serious personality than Isabella.

Above is a picture straight after Girlie was discharged from the hospital. Isabella is here 3 days old. She was (and still is) so cute.

Above is a picture of Christian when he was 5 days old. They both have the same habit with sleeping with the arms in that position. They have the same head shape same ears and a little bit of the same nose (which of course can change).
Quite fantastic when I think about it.

First of all I have been very busy here in Singapore since I came back to Asia in the end of February.
On the 18th of March I was admitted to hospital with chest pains in National University Hospital here in Singapore. After an overnight stay they discharged me but put me on blood pressure medication and cholesterol medication.
On 16th of April I underwent a socalled nuclear stress test where I had a radioactive tracer injected into my bloodstream while I was on a threadmill and then after that my heart region was scanned.
On the 28th of April I was admitted again, this time with heavy chest pains. In the meantime they had received my results from the stress test which indicated that I had a possible coronary artery problem.
On the 29th of April I had a Coronary Angiogram taken which is an invasive procedure inserting a probe into the main artery from my right groin up to my heart. During this procedure they found that two of my coronary arteries were slightly blocked. In order to be sure about the flow through my heart they inserted a pressure wire (I was taken out for 3 hours) and measured the flow. The result was that the flow of blood was satisfactory. However, I do have to change my lifestyle and especially with regards to what I am eating. The diagnose is minor coronary disease. I have to continue my medication for blood pressure and cholesterol as well as blood thinning medication for the rest of my life.
During all of this our lovely daughter Isabella has grown and is steadily becoming a beautiful little lady. In the following pictures she is obviously showing off a little. She is just so cute. Our son, who will be born in the begining of July, looks a little bit like Isabella when Girlie had her 4-D scan done a couple of weeks ago.

Isabella is definitely turning out to become a little lady and according to her mom she is also behaving very well.

There I could inspect the progress of our "little" house project.
In the series of pictures below the outside of the house can be seen as it appears at the moment. I hope we will have the outside of the house painted by the end of January. The finishing of the perimeter wall will probably be the last thing we will do since this can be done while we live in the house.

The next 3 pictures below show the progress of the generator shelter where we will eventually have a small Diesel driven generator installed. Even though it is a bit expensive I have opted for getting a residential fully enclosed generator package which will be impossible to hear from the house (I love peace and quiet).

The inside of the house has now mostly been painted with primer so the walls are now ready to receive the final color coating that we have decided to use. I hope I can upload pictures of this sometime in February.

It still looks a bit messy but when the rooms have been painted, cleaned and some furniture have been installed then I will return with some uploads.

The fence around the lot has been a subject of many discussions. Finally we agreed on a design for the front facing part and now we are considering to use this design for the entire fence (7 pictures below).

What started as an idea about a terrace has slowly turned into a patio of sorts. It will eventually be fitted with windows with mosquito nets so air can circulate but hopefully no mosquitos (8 Pictures below).

We had hoped to move in before Christmas but that has now been postponed to after we come back from our vacation in Denmark in February 2008.

Following are 10 funny examples:
 1. It is illegal to die in The Houses of Parliament ( I guess you risk being executed if you die there!) .
 2. It is an act of treason to place a postage stamp bearing the British monarch upsidedown (Monarchs are so sensitive).
 3. In Liverpool, it is illegal for a woman to be topless except as a clerk in a tropical fish store (I would really like to see the reason for this one!).
 4. Mince pies cannot be eaten on Christmas Day (Oh yes they can!).
 5. In Scotland, if someone knocks on your door and requires the use of your toilet, you must let them enter (I wonder what the punishment would be if you dont let them in?).
 6. A pregnant woman can legally relieve herself anywhere she wants, including in a policeman's helmet (It woulld be a sight for sore eyes to see a woman filling up the helmet of a bobby).
 7. The head of any dead whale found on the British coast automatically becomes the property of the king, and the tail of the queen (And the rest is left to rot).
 8. It is illegal to avoid telling the taxman anything you do not want him to know, but legal not to tell him information you do not mind him knowing (Try and read that a few times and then explain it to someone else!).
 9. It is illegal to enter the Houses of Parliament in a suit of armor (Does that mean the police must not enter if wearing a bulletproof or flak jacket?).
 10. In the city of York, it is legal to murder a Scotsman within the ancient city walls, but only if he is carrying a bow and arrow (Most likely a legacy from William Wallace, Braveheart).
I wonder if similar laws may still be found in Denmark........lets hope not!

I had decided to make the weekend a bit special so I had booked the Presidential Suite for an overnight stay.
We arrived around 1.30 PM at the hotel and without really knowing what to expect we checked in and had a small army of helpers assisting us in carrying 1 suitcase, 1 backpack and two small bags to our room. It turned out that there were only two rooms on the top floor: The Penthouse Suite and the Presidential Suite.
Opening the door and stepping into the suite was not like anything I have ever done before. The suite consists of a very large living room with 3 large sofa's, a dinning table for four persons, various cabinets and a rather large flat TV (not in the pictures) as may be seen on the pictures below

Outside was a terrace the size that can even compete with the terrace in our house in Samar.

The suite was equipped with a large bathroom containing a large jacuzzi with the possibility of watching DVD movies, a massage shower cabin with a small sauna attached, a toilet, a bidet and two sinks. Furthermore the suite has an additional toilet.

The bedroom was equipped with probably the largest bed I have ever slept in. I think 4-5 adults could have slept in that bed at the same time.

The suite also contained a small office facility with a computer, phone and fax.
Obviously we did not leave the suite during our stay but had all our meals brought up as room service. Why waste the space of a good terrace when you can sit outside and enjoy your dinner and breakfast.
The room apparently also came with some complimentary things like a large bottle of white wine in a wine cooler and a large tray of fruits.
We enjoyed the stay and I think Isabella did too. Our nanny (Girlie's aunt) had a problem believing that a hotel had rooms like this. The only downside came when it was time to settle the bill. I chipped up 385 USD for one night but on the other hand, a little luxury now and then is invigorating. I think we may make this a monthly event...at least as long as I am working in Subic.

At the moment the terrace is moving towards completion and the generator house is under construction (this will just be a 4x4 meter open house with a roof and one wall facing the street). This means that we can soon start on painting the house inside and outside. The perimeter wall needs another 3 layers of blocks in some places and 5 layers in others. Then everything needs to be finished before priming and coating with paint (I dont want any gray concrete anywhere). We have postponed the generator for the moment so we can concentrate on getting the house painted so we can move in sometime in December so we can celebrate Christmas and New Year there.

Maybe calling it a terrace is slightly incorrect since it will eventually be fitted out as just another living room but it will be possible to sit there with mosquito netting over the windows enjoying the view over the rice fields next door.

Oct in order to meet up with Girlie, Isabella and my mother in law. I went to HP Wednesday morning to deliver my laptop because the wireless function had stopped working. That morning I started to get a cold and was not feeling too good.
Girlie, Isabella and Rosita (mother in law) turned up around 14:00 hrs so we packed up and went straight to the Danish Consulate where we were met with open arms. They were very helpful when we had to fill in the applications for Isabella's Danish passport. So now we will end up being two out of three with a Danish passport but Girlie still cannot get a residence visa to Denamrk so she can come and go as she please thanks to the Danish petty racist policies (a country inhabited by village idiots).
Thursday 25. Oct we went to the Norwegian Embassy to apply for a Schengen visa for Girlie for our trip to Denmark which will be postponed to the end of January because we cannot get tickets for New Year (we can but they are very expensive). Again, it seems odd that you can go to a Danish consulate and get a passport but not a visa (Danish logic or lack of it).
Thursday afternoon Girlie's friend Lhen and her two kids Christina and Michael joined us. They had come to the Philippines for a vacation and we had not seen Lhen since 2002 when she moved to The US with her husband.
Friday 26. Oct we flew from Manila to Calbayog on the island of Samar where I spent the rest of the day in bed because of my cold.
Saturday 27. Oct we went to the local church where Isabella was baptised. It was a private low key event. However, later the whole village came around for food and drink plus the unavoidable Videoke.

The day went well but my cold had gotten worse and I had a short spell of fever later in the day. Unfortunately we later learned that I had managed to pass the cold on to everybody including Isabella.
